Join us for an evening of exquisite cuisine with the legendary Great British Chef Martin Burge.
Born in Bristol, Martin’s granddad was an army chef, so cooking is in the genes. At 16, he began as commis-chef at the Royal Crescent in Bath working with Michael Croft. After following Michael to the iconic Mayfair restaurant the Mirabelle, he joined the chef legend Richard Neat at Pied a Terre. He continued his development at Le Manoir under the tutelage of Raymond Blanc, and then spent six years with John Burton Race at L’Ortolan, and the two-Michelin-starred Landmark Hotel in London. In 2003, he took on the Executive Chef role at Whatley Manor and during his thirteen year tenure he held two Michelin Stars for nine years. Fast forward to 2019, Martin has been appointed Culinary Director of the Farncombe Estate where he now oversees all four restaurants on this extraordinary Cotswolds estate.
We are especially delighted to welcome Martin as he has always been an important mentor for our own Executive Chef, Douglas since they first worked together at Whatley Manor. We are delighted to bring them back together to cook side by side once again to produce an exquisite 6 course tasting menu. This is an evening not to be missed.
